By nature, LCD panels based on EEFL & CCFL lamp backlight technology, send out infrared (IR) noise. The biggest radiation level is in cold condition but it diminishes during warming up. However, there is always a remainder of IR radiation.

Some peripheral devices (we see this mainly with Set Top Boxes) use IR receivers which are broad banded. They pick up the infrared radiation generated by the display. In this way the used IR codes of the Remote Control will get lost in the noise.
Peripheral devices with small banded, better quality, IR receivers do not have this issue.

CURE:
Possible actions which can be done to reduce or eliminate the IR disturbance are (for detailed information, see attachment):
- Reduce IR reflections.
- Reduce IR radiation.
- Make use of an IR shooter or extender.
- Replace the IR receiver (*) in the peripheral device (only for Philips devices).
REMARKS:
- (*) The mentioned IR receiver is commonly available in the regular market. Possible types to use are: Vishay TSOP34336 or Vishay TSOP34436. See also attached data sheets for the specifications.
- (*) Be aware of possible warranty consequences when opening these STB devices!
